Event description
Artist & maker Harry Morgan discusses his process of making & creating with DES's founder, Susanna Beaumont.

About this Event

  • Harry Morgan studied glass at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2014. His practice has since explored materials & making in a series of sculptural objects. He received a special mention in the 2019 Loewe Craft Prize & has exibited at the Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh with Craft Scotland & at Make Hauser & Wirth, Somerset. He has exhibited at both editions of Design Exhibition Scotland in 2018 & 2019
  • 'I’m interested in the idea of dualism and the interaction of opposites. The relationships between the robust and vulnerable, transparent and opaque.Combining two materials in one object highlights their qualities through contrast. The sculptures have controlled, angular exterior forms, but the overall composition of the object is designed by the unpredictable interaction between the materials.'

Join Harry in conversation with DES founder Susanna Beaumont as he shares insights into his working life & currently areas of research.

This is DES's seventh Studio Visit via Zoom - head to our website to catch up with our previous Studio Visits.
