Description

Style Swap
An evening of festive fashion, styling tips and inspiring talks with Bristol's key stylists and bloggers - in aid of a great cause

Pata Negra, Bristol
23rd November, 7.30pm til late (doors open 6pm)

Whether you’re looking for a fabulous party outfit, or just want to clear out your wardrobe to make room for something new, join our stylists as they open their wardrobes and share their pre-loved clothes at our Style Swap.

At this event, you’ll be able to exchange pre-loved items with fellow fashion lovers, as well as enjoying Style Stories from expert stylists and inspirational bloggers, festive make up tutorials and lots more.

The event is open to fashion lovers of all shapes and sizes – all we ask is that you bring 3-5 good quality items along with you that you’re happy to swap (more guidance on what to bring and how the swap works can be found in our FAQs below)

Our stylists and bloggers will be sharing and inspiring you with their stories of iconic pre-loved items - these items will be available on our ‘charity rail’ for an exclusive opportunity for guests to purchase with a generous donation of which will go to our chosen charity ‘a Life for a Cure’

During the style swap, guests can enjoy one-to-one time with our expert stylists, mini makeovers with Estee Lauder and plenty of time for networking, dancing and drinks - did we tell you we have a signature cocktail?! - £1 of every cocktail purchased goes to our chosen charity.

Tickets cost £15 and include a glass of fizz and an exclusive goody bag.

This event is organised by The Image Consulting Company and is being held in aid of a Life For a Cure, a Bristol based charity that aims to raise awareness and vital funds to help tackle Meningitis. The charity was founded in memory of Bristol teenager Ryan Bresnahan, who contracted the illness aged 16 and died suddenly. Through a Life For a Cure, his family hope to raise money to fund research into an ‘ultimate vaccine’ to help stop other young lives from being lost to meningitis. If you’re a mother this will resonate with you, Ryan’s mother Michelle will be with us to tell us her story and help you identify what you can do to help prevent a similar occurrence happening to you.

Agenda

- Doors open at 6pm (we may experience a busy period around 7pm so please allow enough time for us to sign in your items and grab a drink)
- Bring up to 3 quality items on hangers for our staff to swap for a token of the same quantity
- Grab yourself a free glass of fizz, chat to our stylists, make-up artists and guests.
- 7.30pm Event begins;
- Emmeline, founder of The image Consulting Co welcomes you to Style Swap and talks to you about the event and our business

- Michelle, founder of ‘a Life for a Cure’ tells us her story of why she set up the charity we are supporting in memory of her son

- Karen, Mission Style UK and recent meningitis victim. Tells us how the illness has changed her life and recounts her style stories with an iconic designer item available to buy on the night

- Style Stories, Affiliated stylists and bloggers open their wardrobes to share with you by donating their pre-loved iconic items whilst telling us their style stories and opening up to their fashion mistakes!

- 8pm Style Swap! Clothes rails are unveiled and you are free to pick, choose and try at your leisure

- Party! Once you have your allocated quantity of items. Sit back, relax and get festive advice from our stylists and make-up artists or dance the night away while we get in to the festive spirit! The bar will be open all evening - we’ll even have a signature cocktail of which part-proceeds will be donated to charity and you get 10% off your food bill (great tapas!) if you order before or during the event.

- On departure you will be required to declare the amount of items you are leaving with and hand your tokens back to us. At the end of the evening anyone that wishes to take more than their allocated amount should make a donation to charity for the additional items. More details will be given during the evening.

Don't forget Pata Negra is a great Tapas Bar too - if you choose to dine before or during the event just mention you're with us and you'll get 10% off your food bill

Style Swap FAQs

We will be hosting the event on the top floor of Pata Negra in the popular area of St Nicholas in central Bristol. Click HERE to see the venue

The nearest train station is Bristol Temple Meads which is under a mile to walk which should take approx 15mins. A taxi ride from the station will take approx 5-7mins.

There are regular bus routes from all local areas throughout the centre of Bristol. Click here to plan your journey

How does the swap work?
Each guest will be asked to bring up to 3 items of good quality clothing that they would like to swap. Please click HERE to get in touch if you have more items you would like to donate. For each item you bring, you’ll be issued with a token that you can swap for something else from the rail. Please see above agenda for more details on how the event will run.

How many items can I bring?
Guests are invited to bring up to 3 items but can only swap the same number of items unless you wait until later in the evening when most people have ‘swapped’ and can make a charity donation for additional items remaining.

What quality do the items need to be?
Great quality! Please do not bring threadbare items, or those in need of repair. All items must be of a high quality and in good condition on a hanger. Consider the item you might like to swap for and the condition you would like to see it in.

We have a restriction on the retailers (see example below) and quality of items in which we will allow at the swap, if we feel your item is not in swappable condition we reserve the right to refuse your items(s).

No ticket refunds will be made if you bring items in an un-swappable condition.

What can I bring?
Any size ladies-only good quality clothing, you can bring shoes, bags and belts but please do not bring jewellery. IMPORTANT: PLEASE BRING YOUR ITEMS ON A HANGER.

Are there any restrictions?
There are a few! We ask that you don’t bring jewellery and poor quality or dirty, damp clothing. Please see the example list of recommended retailers below

What if there is nothing there I like?
You are welcome to find your items and take those away with you (if they are still there!) but we’re confident you will find something you like for yourself or someone else.

What if I don’t want to swap clothes but I want to come to the event?
Please purchase a ticket in the usual way, on entry you won’t need to hand in your clothes, but will receive the same benefits as all other guests with exception of taking items away unless it is from the charity rail or remaining items at the end of the evening.

If I like more items than my allocated quantity, will I be allowed to take more?
We ask that you only take the same amount of items from the rail as those you came in with. If you see something else you like we will be offering these for a donation at the end of the evening.

What is the charity rail?
This is a rail dedicated to our chosen charity ‘a Life For a Cure’ - a meningitis related charity. The items on this rail will be donated as higher value items where guests have the opportunity to purchase at a low cost in which large donation will go to charity. We will publicise these items in advance where possible.

What happens if there are clothes remaining - where do they go?
We will offer all remaining clothes to guests for a donation to our chosen charity. Anything remaining will be donated to those less privileged

Example of good quality items:

Reiss, Whistles, Warehouse, Ted Baker, Designer labels, Joules, Coast, Boden, Hobbs, Zara, Oasis, Gap, Jigsaw, M&S,

Example of lower quality retailers that may be refused entry:

Primark, H&M, Supermarket brands, New Look,
