Technocamps is offering free continuous professional development (CPD) training for teachers/educators in computer science as part of the drive to introduce computer science in education.
This training compliments the recent report of the Welsh Governments's ICT Steering Group (4.9) that recommends 'A programme of training and professional development to enable the new computing curriculum should be accessible to new and existing teachers.'
The programme which runs for six weeks will provide an intense training experience that will teach you the skills and applications needed to introduce it within a classroom environment.
The structure of the course will be as follows:
Week 1 (13/11) : An Introduction to Programming - Basic Python
Week 2 (20/11) : Functions
Week 3 (27/11) : Lists
Week 4 (04/12) : Classes
Week 5 (11/12) : Computer Science GCSE Example (Coursework)
Week 6 (18/12) : Computer Science GCSE Example (Controlled Assessment)
Training will focus on 'Python' and 'Greenfoot' and by the end of the course you will feel confident in using this as part of your teaching, providing plentiful benefits for your pupils.
