About this Event

This session will emphasis the need for a coherent vision for the knowledge, skills and values that pupils will learn. We will explore an understanding of subject disciplines, for example, likely misconceptions and how these can be addressed.  We will share effective analogies, illustrations, examples, explanations and demonstrations that can be used to powerfully articulate new or challenging concepts to children. We will examine research showing how teachers can improve pupils’ literacy by explicitly teaching reading, writing and oral language skills specific to disciplines.
