Event Details

Join the SUT+ and Subsea 7 for a tour around Subsea 7’s North Sea spoolbase in Leith, Edinburgh.

The facility was revitalised by a £7 million build programme in 2013 and provides fabrication and storage capabilities for oil and gas pipelines of up to 16” diameter and 530m length for spooling onto reeled pipelay vessels. It covers an area of over 30,000m2 and features 14 production line stations and a fully automated Selmers pipe handling system.
The visit will consist of a short presentation of the facility including a high level overview of the operational side of the spoolbase (e.g. welding, NDE, coating, spooling). This will be followed by a tour of the main production line with experienced operators guiding delegates through the pipeline fabrication process. The base will be in full production during the visit.

A minibus will depart Aberdeen at 7.30am from Union Row, Aberdeen (meet at Wood Group Kenny reception, Caledonian House) and transport delegates to the spoolbase. The minibus is expected to return to Aberdeen at approximately 5.00pm
An event fee of £15 (SUT members) or £25 (non SUT members) per person is payable in advance. Lunch will provided by Subsea 7, so please let us know of any dietary requirements when you sign up. Delegates are required to bring their own PPE – safety glasses, safety shoes, overalls and gloves.

Spaces are limited to 14 attendees so book early to avoid disappointment. A waitlist will be in place in the event of any cancellations.

With thanks to Subsea 7
