This is an in person training session and will be held at Manor Farm Community Association, Walsall
The session will provide attendees with a comprehensive insight into substance misuse awareness. There will be an oversight of different types of substances and the impact that they can have upon the individual. In addition there will be explorations around how substance use can impact upon parenting and the risks and protective factors to consider when working with families who are affected by substance use. The session has been designed for frontline professionals working with parents and for those working with children who may be impacted by a parent or carers substance or alcohol use.
The session will also give an overview of the interventions and services available in the Walsall borough for parents who are misusing substances and their families.
The session is ideal if you want to learn more about different substances, their effects and what support is available locally to parents and families. It is also a great opportunity as refresher course for any professionals who have not had any recent drug or alcohol specific training
Session Aims
To gain an insight and understanding of substances
To increase confidence and awareness around agency and frontline worker responses to dealing with drug and alcohol issues in relation to parents and families
To have a better understanding of The Beacon Family services and the support provision available to parents across Walsall
To gain an understanding of the risks and protective factors in relation to parents who use substances
To gain a deeper understanding of the impact that substance misuse can have on both the parent and the child.
