Substance Use, Stigma & Supporting Recovery
Thu 2 February 2017, 14:00 – 16:00 GMT
Substance misuse was identified as an issue having a negative impact on community and individual wellbeing across Dundee’s Community Regeneration Areas. In Lochee, this was identified as the main issue negatively affecting people’s wellbeing.
This session aims to challenge the stigma associated with substance use through exploring the links between wellbeing, inequalities and addiction. The session is aimed at people who would like to develop in line with the following outcomes:
To raise awareness of why people misuse substances and the influences of health inequalities
To understand stigma and its effects
To explore how communities can support recovery
This session does not require that you have specific values, beliefs and opinions as exploring these will form part of the session. However, we do ask that you are willing to have an open mind to consider alternative view points.
Evidence of completion of this training or similar training is a requirement of the Recovery Friendly Lochee Commitment and Ambassador Schemes.
