5.30 pm refreshments and networking in the Atrium, with the event starting promptly at 6.00 pm and finishing around 7.30 pm

In this session Marc Long, from Clarke Willmott Solicitors, will begin with a presentation followed by discussion with those present about what it takes to succeed at Tribunal.  A positive outcome is the culmination of everyone working together.  This includes lawyers, witnesses, the employer and, most importantly, HR professionals who can make the difference to ensuring that a judgement goes the appropriate way.
Marc will look at witness preparation; how to handle a cross-examination; key errors for witnesses, and the role of the Judge.  He will also draw on learning from a number of real cases to illustrate what contributed to a successful verdict.
At the end of this session you will:

  • Have a clearer understanding of the critical success factors that influence a Tribunal outcome and how to lay the groundwork for success
  • Be confident in your approach to witness preparation and cross-examination
  • Gain insight into the potential pitfalls and common errors that could ultimately impact your success at a Tribunal, and
  • Appreciate the roles of all participants, including the Judge.
