Event description

Description

Effective support for NQTs is crucial to them becoming confident practitioners who are able to provide children and young with an outstanding educational experience. Following feedback, we are pleased to introduce our secondary NQT support programme for 2017.

The programme commences in September 2017 and runs throughout the year. It has been designed to support every aspect of a secondary NQTs first year, both professionally and personally. The programme aims to support staff to become outstanding practitioners.

Key aspects of the programme include:

• Content based on the Teachers’ Standards, with a focus on ensuring that NQTs continue to develop skills and knowledge to succeed and engage pupils through effective practice.

• Taught learning with gap tasks to support reflective practice.

• Bespoke secondary content exploring key aspects of outstanding practice, including participating in learning walks and supported lesson observations, plus a visit to a special school.

• Opportunities to network with other NQTs.

Dates and times: All sessions are included in the cost of the programme and a brief summary is included below:

Welcome to teaching 11 September 2017 (full day) Delegates will meet fellow NQTs, and be introduced to core teaching and learning strategies, seating plans and making the right first impression. In the afternoon, NQTs will experience a lesson observation where they can see a strand of ‘5 to Drive’ in action.
