Success with Sensory Supports at Home and School for OTs with GriffinOT
Overview
This five part series is designed for occupational therapists who have some knowledge of sensory processing, but want to know how to use sensory based strategies more effectively in practice. It is delivered live and online by occupational therapist Kim Griffin.
If you are completely new to sensory processing/integration, I recommend that you complete my online pre-recorded course - Sensory Aware with GriffinOT - before joining this sensory series.
The five part sensory series will run weekly on Monday evenings 7:30-9:00 pm (UK time GMT) through January-Feburary 2024. Purchasing any date will give you access to all sessions.
To save on fees, you can book the training directly via Kim's website here.
All sessions will be presented live, they will also be recorded. If you join after the first session (5/1/26), you will have access to the recordings for the earlier sessions. It is advised that you catch up on these recordings prior to the first live session. Unless there are tech issues, recordings are typically available the next day and you will have access to all recordings until 31 Mar 2026.
The series
5 Jan 2026 19:30-21:00 GMT: Reviewing conceptual models of sensory processing/integration.
This session will review the different theoretical models of sensory processing and explore where sensory strategies fit within these models. It will also introduce arousal, self-regulation and sensory modulation.
12 Jan 2026 19:30-21:00 GMT: Sensory strategies - what's the evidence?
This session will explore the current published evidence available to support the use of sensory strategies in practice. Spoiler alert: Unfortunately, there is very little evidence.
19 Jan 2026 19:30-21:00 GMT: Assessment, modulation, arousal, and goal setting.
This session will cover the different assessment tools occupational therapists can use to identify sensory and arousal needs. The primary goal for using sensory supports within occupational therapy is to support arousal and regulation and the end of the session will focus on writing functional goals.
26 Jan 2026 19:30-21:00 GMT: Using sensory strategies at school
The main focus of the session will be practical considerations for success within schools. The session will conclude with a few case examples.
2 Feb 2026 19:30-21:00 GMT: Using sensory strategies at home
The main focus of the session will be practical considerations for success within schools. The session will conclude with a few case examples.
23 Feb 2026 19:30-20:30 GMT: Consolidation Q& A This is a final Q&A session with Kim. Questions can be submitted in advance within the online training. Kim will prioritise questions that have been submitted, and if there is time will take questions from attendees. N.B. This session will not be recorded.
31st March 2026 Close of course: This is the last day you will have access to the course material in the online platform.
The price includes access to all six sessions and the recordings incase you can't attend live. Tickets will be on sale until 3rd November, if you have purchased after the 13th of October you will have access to the recordings for the first two sessions.
Those joining the sessions will be learning directly from Kim. Kim has twenty years of clinical experience supporting children who have sensory needs at both home and school. She runs GriffinOT and is the author of Success with Sensory Supports (2023 JKP) and 100 ideas for Sensory Processing (2021 Bloomsbury).
