Event description
We are very excited to welcome Emily Webber who will be running this course.

About this Event

This course is online. It will be delivered live using zoom.

Timings: 10am - 4pm GMT.

Workshop outline:

Communities of practice are groups of people who have a similar role, passion or interest. All too often, organisational structures prevent people from connecting across team and division boundaries rather than enable it.

Bringing people together into communities is vital for many reasons. It increases cross-team learning, knowledge sharing, common approaches, fruitful collaboration and support networks. Organisations with effective communities of practice can have fewer silos, increased opportunities for learning and development, better ways of working and more motivated people.

In this practical workshop, Emily will share techniques for setting up and maintaining successful communities of practice.

Participants should come with an idea for a community of practice that they want to set up as they will be working through it as an example. Pairs and groups from the same organisation are welcome.

We will cover:

  • The value of communities of practice
  • Getting started

- Clarifying who the community is for

- Explaining your "why"

- Identifying your community goals

- Understanding community roles

  • Reviewing the effectiveness of the community
  • Distributed communities

Free place:

We are offering a free place on this course to anybody who has been made redundant due to the pandemic. Contact us for more information.
