Successfully Recruiting and Managing Museum Volunteers
Wednesday, 20 January 2016 from 10:30 to 16:30 (GMT)
If your responsibilities include making sure volunteers are recruited, involved, fulfilled, supported and thanked, then this session is for you!
Through both practical examples and updated theories of volunteer motivation, we will explore the key steps involved in successfully building and retaining a volunteer team.
Who should attend?
Anyone responsible for recruiting, motivating and managing museum volunteers- either on a voluntary or paid basis.
What will you learn?
By the end of the day, you should have gained a better practical understanding of:
- Getting the right framework in place to recruit and manage volunteers to meet your own organisation’s needs
- What motivates volunteers
- Thinking through a role description from start to finish
- Spreading the word – advertising your volunteering opportunities
- The tools to welcome and involve new volunteers
- How to take forward positive volunteer involvement – from supervision and support, communications and saying thank you to handling problems that arise - and goodbyes
