This training session is aimed at educating people on how to support someone with suicidal thoughts, how to talk comfortably about suicide, and how to offer practical support.
This free one-hour online training session is aimed at anyone who wants to understand more about suicide, how to know when someone may be having thoughts of suicide, how to talk directly and comfortably about suicide, and what we can all do to offer practical support. The session covers:
· Getting informed about suicide
· Being aware of the signs someone may be having thoughts of suicide that could be at work or within the home, in your friend or sports group, in your neighbourhood, but also a total stranger.
· Advice and guidance to talk about suicide openly in the workplace, to family members, friends or within the wider community.
· The importance of asking directly
· Listening compassionately
· Building support around the person
· Being willing to check in
· Looking after yourself
This online session is delivered on Teams by our dedicated and experienced suicide prevention trainers. Participants also receive a PDF course worksheet and a post-course handbook.
We would also like attendees to have their cameras switched on throughout the session to increase connectivity and ensure safety.
