The goals of this free event are to provide an opportunity to network and identify research priorities for self-harm and suicide prevention in the North West (Lunch and refreshments will be available).
This event is aimed at those:
Actively researching within the field of self-harm or suicide
Individuals or carers with personal experience of self-harm
Health professionals working with service users who self-harm or experience suicidal behaviour
Representatives from 3rd sector organisations supporting people who self-harm or experience suicidal behaviours
The morning session will include talks from individuals working within suicide and self-harm prevention. Introductions: Clare Milford Haven (Founder and Trustee of The James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund). Keynote speakers from The University of Manchester include:
Professor Nav Kapur “The Centre for Suicide Prevention: recent findings & new directions”
Professor Gillian Haddock “Improving outcomes for people experiencing suicidality: the current state of the art in psychological treatments and key areas for future focus”
Also presenting: Professor Taj Nathan (Cheshire Wirral Partnership) and Louise Bennett (Expert by Experience)
The afternoon session will provide an opportunity to discuss the following important groups and areas for self-harm and suicide prevention in:
Children and Young People
Crisis Intervention services
Self-harm and Suicidal Ideation in the community
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
