Hercules Fisherman, award-winning London-based artist, will be exhibiting a series of new works at Simplicity
Remastered; He will be showing portraits, inspired by the salon stylist and hair sculpting. His expressive works and fascination with Zen-Kanji calligraphy plainly evident in these pieces. He experiments with the fluid nature of the medium, where magical and shimmering hues result, registering the dynamic flow of ink on rice paper.
Hercules Fisherman earlier this year was on tour in the Far East where he was invited to work and exhibit a series of sensual paintings produced in Thailand and Japan. These works are influenced by classic Japanese and Eastern techniques with a modern touch.
Hercules has built a reputation for a strong body of work over the years that includes painting, sculpture, installation and performance art. He has exhibited at international art centers and events in several countries and private collections around the world.
His work has gained recognition in UK newspapers and magazines including The Face, The Guardian, Sunday Times, ID and Harpers & Queen, to name a few. He has been on TV and featured in films such as London Kills Me by Hanif Kureishi. Hercules has also launched popular clubs and events including Our Wonderful Culture hosting celebrities like Vivienne Westwood, as well as conducted interviews with Lucian Freud and Leigh Bowery, Richard Hamilton, Yoko Ono, and Gilbert & George.
Hercules has held artist residencies at De Fabrik, Netherlands, The Fridge London, Paradise Wild Life Park, Shin Star Galleries in Thailand and Japan. He has also lately begun to set up his own pop-up ateliers during key events in town where he would capture the atmosphere (e.g. Notting Hill Carnival, Future Fest, and Afterburners)
Hercules is a passionate protagonist for the advancement of culture, high-tech and social change, and widely recognized for mentoring high-tech start-ups internationally. He recently participated in a major Human Rights fundraising event held at the United Nations in Geneva, along with Daniel Barenboim and others, promoting peace and principals for the Universal Rights Declaration.
The Simplicity Remastered is more about the idea of mastering the basic understanding of hairdressing. In the same way, Hercules is also striving to remaster the ancient art of Sumi Paintings, working in classical traditions and tools, capturing the very essence of simplicity of portraiture fashioned in style.
Hercules show at Simplicity Remastered is from this 15th November through to the new year;
Hercules has produced a range of portraits capturing the hair styles at our salon in an entirely new way, inspired by traditional Japanese and Eastern style.
Over the years he has visited many of the countries in the Far East where he has covered topics on art, culture and technology in his social media feed and his blog posts on a regular basis.
He has long-standing ties in the region buildup over many years. He was amongst the top UK trade delegate to chi min city, Vietnam (Harvey Nash 2010), Set up a dev team in Beijing- China for in 2006 ( CTO of Fizzback), This year he spent few months half with artist in residencies in Phuket, Thailand, and Tokyo, Japan, with works exhibited at Shin Star Galleries in both countries and Garter Gallery in Tokyo.
