Summer Bay Sunset

About this event

Many TV viewers in the United Kingdom and Australia are familiar with Summer Bay's enticing sandy beaches and crystal blue waters. Home and Away is one of Australia's most popular soaps, however many viewers are under the impression that Summer Bay is a real location. No, Summer Bay isn't a real place. However, the show is shot at a real location. The beach used to film all the dramatic shore-side storylines is Palm Beach, located in Sydney's Northern Beaches. It has been the filming location for Home and Away since 1988. The picturesque beach also houses many clearly identifiable Home and Away icons including the lighthouse, the swimming pool and the popular Surf Club. Locals are known to call the location 'Palmy' and it's never surprising to see some famous faces holidaying there, especially at Christmas time when it is summer in Australia. Your tour guide, Richard, has a great knowledge of Palm Beach and the Barrenjoey Headland. He has lived there since 1992 and explored it by kayak, seaplane and by foot. In 2022 he started offering Heygo tours at Palm Beach, as a way of sharing his beautiful 'playground' with people around the world. He wanted to develop a 'Summer Bay' specific tour, and he will be walking along the beach, pointing out places of interest, and finishing near the site of the boathouse to watch the sun set over the Kuring-gai National Park.
