MIDSUMMER CELEBRATION
About this event
Come and celebrate the start of summer in nature! The Summer Equinox (midsummer) is the 'longest day' when the sun is at full power. It's a time of energy, joy and expansiveness; themes we will explore and connect with on our walk in nature.
Forest Bathing is the practice of immersing yourself in nature, using your senses (no swimsuits required!) for health and wellbeing. It brings together Mindful Walking and Nature Connection; this event is a chance to slow down, be present and notice the natural beauty around you.
We will walk slowly, taking in our surroundings and enjoying this season of new beginnings. I will offer some simple, seasonal nature connection activities to help you get the most from your time in the trees.
We will end our walk with a tea ceremony: we'll gather to sit and enjoy a seasonal herbal tea and reflect on our experience. There will be a short meditation or reading and a chance to share our experience with the group. You can speak or simply listen, whatever feels right for you on the day.
Forest Bathing is an enjoyable and powerful way of boosting your resilience and practising self care by recharging yourself in nature.
Biophilia: human's biological need to connect to nature.
Time in nature is proven to:- decrease stress- boost the immune system- improve sleep quality- help us feel relaxed and calm- inspire gratitude, connectedness and awe
We will meet outside the visitor centre which you'll find in the car park. Please arrive a few minutes beforehand as I will start at 2pm prompt. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Walking boots are recommended as it will likely be muddy underfoot. You might want to bring a bottle of water too.
No experience necessary and all are welcome. Please contact me if you have any accessibility needs.
Event will go ahead in most weather conditions - in severe weather I will contact you to rearrange.
