Event description
Learn how to prune stone fruits (plums, cherries, etc) and trained pip fruit (apples & pears).

About this event

It can be confusing to decipher which fruit trees need what type of pruning in summer. Let Fruit Works Co-operative guide you in how to identify what to cut, save and train in the summer months.

By the end of the session you'll have learnt more about how to:

  • prune apple and pear trees that have been trained, eg cordon, espalier
  • prune stone fruits (plums, damsons, cherries etc)

Jubilee Blossom Orchard is a fantastic hidden away along a path between #9 and #11 Hirstwood Road. It's a 10 minutes walk from Saltaire station and only 4 minutes down from the buses on Bingley Road.

Information about the orchard is here.

We want this event to be accessible for as many people as possible, so tickets are available on a PAYF basis. The recommended donation is £20, but this can be higher or lower depending on your circumstance.

Covid-19 might mean we have to change the date, but we would be in touch with registered participants at least a week before the scheduled date if that is the case.

This is part of a programme of short training courses that you might also be interested in: formative pruning; restorative pruning; bench grafting; top grafting; summer pruning & bud grafting.
