Learn how to prune stone fruit trees (plums, cherries, etc.) and trained pip fruit (apples & pears).

About this event

It can be confusing to decipher which fruit trees need what type of pruning in summer. Let Fruit Works Co-operative guide you in how to identify what to cut, save and train in the summer months.

By the end of the session you'll have learned more about how to:

  • prune apple and pear trees that have been trained, e.g. cordon, espalier
  • prune stone fruit trees (plums, damsons, cherries etc)

About Lidget Green Memorial Garden

The Memorial Garden in Lidget Green was developed to provide a modern, inclusive, green memorial to commemorate those from the area who fell during the two World Wars. It was completed in April 2017 and consists of grassed areas interspersed with seating on paved paths and large productive beds containing nut and fruit trees together with herbs and vegetables.

Lidget Terrace is easy to get to by bus from Bradford City Centre (636) and Shipley (629). There is plenty of parking on the road outside the church on Lidget Terrace.

We are also running a summer pruning course in Leeds the week before.

We want this event to be accessible for as many people as possible, so tickets are available on a Pay As You Feel basis. The recommended donation is £20, but this can be higher or lower depending on your circumstance.
