Description

A beautiful pop-up mini yoga retreat to support your inner glow - brought to you by Hidden Garden.

Summer is a very yang time of year and is characterised by the element of fire. As the weather and environment around us warms and comes into full bloom our focus becomes more outward with the active nature of the season.

You can bring balance to this outward focus and stay in harmony with nature by honouring the sun with this mini yoga retreat. In celebration of the recent summer solstice we will journey inward taking time to acknowledge our own internal light. Mirroring the sun by creating heat in the body and circulating energy by opening, stretching and lengthening.

Take time for yourself at this mini retreat in the beautiful surroundings of Chatelerhault Country Park. Our practice will take place in the stuninhg Hunting Lodge where we will throw open the doors to a private garden and welcome the energy of the sun.

This retreat is suitable for all levels of practitioner, beginners are warmly welcomed.

Starting with PRANAYAMA (breathing technique)
Every thought we have changes the rhythm of our breath. By bringing more awareness to our breath and learning simple breathing techniques to control, retain and extend it we in turn are able to control our mind. The way we breathe plays an important part to our overall health and during the summer months it is particularly effective to use a breathing technique to cool and soothe the body and mind.

Moving onto ASANA (postures)
Through the quieter more traditional style of Yin Yoga we will take time to warm and stretch the connective tissues of the body allowing energy to flow more freely. Yin yoga stimulates the flow of chi (energy) in the meridians (electromagnetic routes) of the body enhancing our organ function and relieving energetic and emotional blockages leading to more clarity and aliveness in how we approach life. Finishing the physical practice with some restorative postures to encourage a deep level of relaxation in preparation for Yoga Nidra.

Finishing our Practrice with Yoga Nidra (Yogic sleep)
Lying in a comfortable position you will be guided through Yoga Nidra. This ancient practice induces complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation whilst remaining alert. Being aware of how completely relaxed you are promotes deep rest. Restoring your body, mind and senses to their natural function and leading to a profound sense of joy and wellbeing.

We will end the retreat with cooling fruit infused water, warming teas, delicous homemade summer treats and an opportunity to stay and chat in beautiful surroundings before you return to your busy life.

You might wish to enjoy a meditative walk before or after the retreat – the park has 500 acres of countryside and woodland and over ten miles of routed pathways.

Please feel free to bring your own mat although mats can be provided. And remember to bring anything that will bring you warmth and comfort on the day such as a blanket and pillow.

What and who is Hidden Garden

I am Nikki and Hidden Garden is my new venture, creating beautiful pop-up wellness events in interesting hidden natural environments, that are nourishing for your mind and body. Hidden Garden is based on the simple things that improve my wellbeing (yoga, meditation, soul nourishing food, coming together with others to explore ideas and share stories and just slowing down for a little while). I also love being in and close to nature and exploring new environments and I started thinking about all the lovely hidden spaces we have in and around our cities, towns and villages and how much joy simply being in these spaces can bring to your soul. Hidden Garden was my way of bringing all of this together - the things that bring me wellness and peace - to be enjoyed by others.

This is only our third event and hope over time our events will include yoga, outdoor yoga, meditation and other wellness activities such as mind enhancing talks, explorative walks, soul nourishing food experiences and makery.

Our pop-up events will take place in peaceful and often unusual places and each session will be guided by a relevant experienced practitioner. Some events will be outdoors and even when indoors our events will be close to nature.

From the activity to the physical environment our events are designed to foster a sense of wellbeing and peace giving you the chance to disconnect with the pressures of the outside world for a little while.

The yoga for this retreat will be led by Jill McInulty

Hi my name is Jill McInulty, I’m a Hatha trained yoga teacher and I’ve worked in the wellness industry for 11 years now. For me Yoga is a way of life, a lifestyle and something that was introduced to me by my mother as a child. What I love most about it apart from the obvious health and wellbeing benefits is the connection it brings to my life. First and foremost with myself then the community and environment around me. There’s a great little saying I love “attached to nothing connected to everything” this pretty much sums up my approach to teaching. One of my other passions is getting outside in nature. An essential part of my life being a mother to 4 energetic kids is outdoor activities. It is definitely the place where I feel alive and connected.
