Description

The Paediatric Summer School aims to give KCL students opportunities to develop their clinical skills over the summer and get a taster of what it is like working in paediatrics!

Opportunities and types of placements available this week:

RETT SYNDROME - Students (1x) will have the opportunity to sit in a Rett Syndrome clinic along with a Consultant.

PAEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGY - Students (2x) will be able to see a range of endocrinology conditions commonly seen in the paediatric field.

NEONATOLOGY - Students (1x) must be at least 18 years old, studying Medicine at KCL and must bring a valid DBS check to the placement. The placement will consist of shadowing a Neonatology Consultant on the unit. You must be a Medical student who is 18+, and you must bring your KCL ID to the placement, and you must be smartly dressed in clinical clothes.

SURGICAL WARD ROUND - Students (3x) will have the opportunity to shadow a consultant on a ward round. Students must be medical students who have successfully completed 2nd year.

CHILD PSYCHIATRY - Students (1x) will be able to observe a number of psychiatric conditions. The student must be a KCL medical student, take a copy of their enhanced DBS check and photo ID to the placement.

METABOLIC CLINIC - Students (2x) will be able to see various metabolic conditions in the clinic.

Please order tickets (FREE!) for the clinics that you are interested in and that you can definitely attend. Please check the time and hospital in the ticket name. Places are on a first come first serve basis and you can only sign up to a maximum of one opportunity (at the current time)

Once you have ordered your ticket, please send the following to kclpaediatrics.summerschool@gmail.com AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we can confirm your placement:

1. Your emailed ticket confirmation

2. A scanned copy of your King's DBS

3. A signed copy of the Code of Conduct (available on website: https://sites.google.com/site/paedskclsummerschool/code-of-conduct)

We will then email you further details about your placement e.g. how to get there, who you will be meeting and where.

Remember to print your ticket confirmation so the consultant you are shadowing can sign it as proof of attendance, in order to receive your certificate.
