Event description

Description

In this workshop with Nikoleta Kalaydzhieva, students will explore the intriguing world of mathematical shapes, known as Topology. They will see how 3D shapes can have only one side and what interesting things you can find when you cut these shapes up. Students will also investigate ideas of orientation, what it means for two shapes to be connected, and even extend thinking out into the fourth dimension!

Please note: This workshop is strictly for 10–12 year-olds. Students should bring a drink, pens, pencils and a calculator. There will be a short break during the workshop and a drink and a small snack will be provided. Students should bring their own snack if they have any allergies. They should also bring pens, pencils and a calculator. Please contact us on summerschools@ri.ac.uk with any questions.

Mathematics Summer School workshops are based on Ri Masterclasses. Students who have attended a Masterclass series which included a session on a similar topic may have already seen some of the content in this workshop. Please contact us on summerschools@ri.ac.uk with any questions.

Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (fourteen calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
