Event Details

Anamorphosis is a technique for transforming pictures, including making flat pictures ‘jump’ into 3D when viewed from the correct place, or making pictures look flat when they are drawn on 3D objects. Street art, adverts on football pitches and even famous paintings all use these techniques to make the work come alive. In this workshop with Alan Davies, we will explore the mathematics of making these transformations and have a go at producing our own anamorphic art.

Please note: This workshop is strictly for 10–12 year-olds. There will be a short break during the workshop and a drink and a small snack will be provided. Students should bring their own snack if they have any allergies

The Mathematics Summer School workshops are based on Ri Mathematics Masterclasses. Students who have attended a Masterclass series which included a session on a similar topic may have already seen some of the content in this workshop. Please contact us on summerschools@ri.ac.uk with any questions.

Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (fourteen calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
