Event description

Description

3D imaging is an exciting discipline for understanding and interrogating the world in which we live and work, from the complexity of the internal organs of the human body to the hidden beauty of environmental ecosystems. In this hands-on practical session with Kamel Madi and Loic Courtois, students will learn how our eyes sense depth information and get a 3D picture of the world using a stereo-vision system, and how to represent the three-dimensional shape of any object using a visible-light tomography-Lego system to mimic the way a CT scanner works. The students will be able to build their own shape using colourful Play-Doh creations.

Please note: This workshop is strictly for 10–12 year-olds. There will be a short break during the workshop and a drink and a small snack will be provided. Students should bring their own snack if they have any allergies

This workshop is based on an Ri Engineering Masterclass. Students who have attended a Masterclass series which included a session on a similar topic may have already seen some of the content in this workshop. Please contact us on summerschools@ri.ac.uk with any questions.

Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (fourteen calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
