Event description

Description

If you like your mathematics, and wish to study any of the sciences or social sciences at A–level and university, this workshop is for you! Astronomers need mathematics to handle very large numbers, physicists for the very small. Biologists need mathematics to analyse their experiments, sociologist and psychologists to analyse their surveys. The demand is never ending! And mathematicians and statisticians have developed the tools to help. Come along and experiment with some of these tools scientists and engineers use and see just how they apply them in their work.

This workshop is strictly for 16–18 year-olds and will include a 45 minute unsupervised lunch break; students should bring lunch and a drink.

Mathematics Summer School workshops are based on Ri Masterclasses. Students who have attended a Masterclass series which included a session on a similar topic may have already seen some of the content in this workshop. Please contact us on summerschools@ri.ac.uk with any questions.

Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (fourteen calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
