Event description

Description

You're a secret agent behind enemy lines. You've got to get an urgent message to HQ, but the enemy is listening in. All your old codes are compromised, and you can't get to HQ to arrange a new one. What can you do, and how can maths and computing help? In this workshop with Phil Ramsden, students will use Python to solve the secret agents problem, and think about what makes a secret code vulnerable or secure. No advanced mathematics knowledge needed, but a little computing experience would be helpful.

Please note: This workshop is strictly for 13–15 year-olds and will include a 45 minute supervised lunch break. Students will not be able to leave the building at lunch time unless permission is given at the time of booking. Students should bring lunch and a drink, pens and pencils.

This workshop is based on an Ri Computer Science Masterclass. Students who have attended a Masterclass series which included a session on a similar topic may have already seen some of the content in this workshop. Please contact us on summerschools@ri.ac.uk with any questions.

Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (fourteen calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
