Event description

Description

The Summer Symposium 2018 (Re-)Forming Sculpture is a two-day international conference organised by the Association for Art History's Doctoral and Early Career Research Network. The conference aims to re-consider the boundaries and hierarchies of sculpture within art history, broadening how it is understood in term of its medium, form, materiality, and cultural significance. Taking place on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 June 2018, (Re-)Forming Sculpture will take place at The Hepworth Wakefield and the University of Leeds. It will highlight current doctoral and early career research in the field of sculpture, within its widest art historical remits.

The Summer Symposium 2018 is kindly supported by the University of Leeds, The Hepworth Wakefield, the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, and the Henry Moore Foundation.

You can find full details about the programme and keynote speakers on our website.

There will be an opportunity for attendees to sign-up for an out-of-hours exhibition tour of the Sculpture Collection. This is free, but you will need to pre-book as spaces are limited.

Please note that the Summer Symposium 2018 will be photographed for use by the Association for Art History. If you have any dietary requirements please email to let us know.
