About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

£5 discount ongoing till 28th July. Book soon!

Bring your little ones along for a magical, hands-on printing workshop using the power of the sun! In this special family-friendly session, children will learn how to make cyanotypes

, beautiful blue-and-white prints made by placing objects on fabric and exposing them to sunlight.

Kids are invited to bring a small toy, leaf, flower, or any flat treasure from a garden or walk — something that tells a little story about them or where they live. These objects will be used to create their very own artwork, using a special light-sensitive fabric.

Each child will:

  • Make a cyanotype print to take home, and
  • Create a fabric square that will be added to a community quilt celebrating the people and places of Kingston upon Thames. (The final quilt will be assembled and displayed at a later date.)

Workshop Details:

  • Designed especially for younger children
  • Workshop times are 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00
  • All children must be accompanied by a supervising adult for the duration of the workshop
  • No experience needed, just curiosity and creativity!
  • All materials provided
  • Cost: £15 per child (includes materials and two take-home prints)

This gentle, creative activity is a lovely introduction to photography, art, and nature and a chance for children to leave their mark on a special collaborative artwork.

Can’t stay for the full one-hour workshop? No problem — drop in during the day and make a single fabric square to contribute to the quilt. Everyone is welcome to take part and leave their mark.

Daisy is currently doing a PhD on the craft of content creation. She has worked with Meta and created cyanotype collaborative content for Kew Gardens, Lucy & Yak, the National Trust and Levi’s, bringing together creativity, storytelling, and community through her work.
