About this event

Step out of your daily grind and into our beautiful meditation space to experience a serene and inspiring escape from your busy life. Find the inner peace that comes from expertly guided group meditations. The meditation classes are held twice each week in the sedate 18th century Georgian Drawing Room of the Grade II listed Beckenham Place Mansion which has a panoramic view of 237 acres of carefully tended gardens, lawns and flowers.

After the interruption of lockdown, we are returning to the in-person classes.

About Ticketing

There are two ticketing options. Paid or Free.

Free tickets are available for regular students that would prefer to use up their cards or renew them.

About the Classes

The session format is a 15-minute talk with the rest being meditations and #mindfulness practices. You can ask any questions about mindfulness, meditation or any related subject.

We are a friendly, mixed ability group. There is a social element and we often go for a cuppa before or after each session.

Beginners or experienced meditators are all welcome.

The meditation skills we teach are:

  • Non-religious, we don’t use the session as an opportunity to try to convert you
  • Teach practical meditation and mindfulness skills
  • Suitable for beginners or experienced meditators

The class consists mainly of mindfulness and loving kindness, techniques (though we do try other practices as well).

The classes are training in the techniques and an explanation of what they are, how they work and how you can use them in your life.

Each session is designed to assist you in your personal journey.

About The Mansion

The Mansion is an open and graceful space that sits in natural stillness, offering an inspiring and ideal place to practice mindfulness and meditation without distraction. You will feel better, happier and more relaxed from visiting our pleasant retreat designed to bring calm, comfort and quiet.

Beckenham Place Park has been recovered for the wider community with £4.9M of Lottery funding. We are fortunate to have access to such a perfect location which enables a connection to the stillness and serenity of nature into our meditation experience in such a graceful way.

We are surrounded by transport links with four stations less than twenty minutes walk away, many buses and free parking directly outside the building. See below for details.

We normally visit the cafe after the class for either a coffee in the park or to sit down when that is possible.

THE MANSION

The Mansion, originally the home of the Cator family, was built in 1760 and has been significantly remodelled over time. It is a Grade II listed building and is built in the Palladian style.

From time to time, in the summer meditation will take place in the park itself

FACILITIES

The Drawing Room and the Dining Room have disabled access. If you are disabled, please contact us before attending to ensure that we are using one of these rooms as from time to time we may be asked to use other rooms at the venue.
