Description

Two separate tours of treasures from the British Museum collection

10:15-11:15 The Ancient World

11:45-12:45 Britain and Britons

Spend a leisurely Sunday morning discovering the stories behind some of the jewels in the collection of London's British Museum.

I've put together two one-hour tours. You can buy a ticket for either of the tours, or get a combined ticket for both tours and save £4.00 off the price of buying each one separately (and have time for a coffee between them).

TOUR ONE looks at the ancient world: mummies from Egypt from before the time of the Pharaohs, the mysterious Rosetta Stone, the all-powerful Rameses the Great, the exquisite carvings of the Assyrians, and the world-famous Parthenon Marbles - 2500 years old and still one of the crowning achievements of Western sculpture.

TOUR TWO looks at objects found in Britain - from a time before the concept of 'Britain' even existed, a unique Roman mosaic, gold and silver treasures from 4000 years of history, through to the Anglo-Saxons and to a priceless gold cup owned by Henry VIII.

All these objects have incredible stories to tell, and you'll discover what makes them so important.
