KEY POINTS

CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS:

S. Paul's Church is in Tier 4 of COVID-19 Restrictions: STAY AT HOME from 20 December.

Please do not travel to S. Paul's unless you live in London, Tier 4.

Public Worship is permitted as an organised gathering provided any person attending is: alone, part of a group all from the same household, or from two linked households, and must not join any other group or mingle with any person from another group. NB non-household groups of 6 are not permitted. Christmas ‘bubbles’ not permitted.

In everything, we seek to ensure that the re-opening of the church is COVID-19 secure, and safe for the Rector, volunteers, congregation, visitors and all members of the community, following all the necessary guidance as it is updated by the Government & the Church of England.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

1. If you have booked a place for the Mass, then you and your household MUST arrive between 9.50am - 10.20am.

The gates will be locked at 10.20am, with no-one on duty there to admit late arrivals.

2. Family/Household groups must arrive together. Under 18s will only be admitted with their parents/carers.

3. You must wear a facemask inside the church, and during the Mass.

4. Please arrive for 9.30am if you would like to be a Volunteer at this Sunday Parish Mass.

Re-opening the Parish Church of S. Paul, Deptford

We look forward to welcoming you back to church after the latest lockdown, which began on the 5th November & ended on the 1st December. The Parochial Church Council, (PCC), has agreed the necessary risk assessment & put in place a COVID-19 Secure plan for the latest re-opening of S. Paul’s, Deptford (SPD) to the public for Sunday Parish Mass from Sunday 6th December.

As from the 2nd December London has been placed into LOCAL RESTRICTION TIER 2: HIGH ALERT.

Public Worship is now permitted as an organised gathering provided any person attending is: Alone, or, part of group all from the same household, or, from two linked households, or part of group all from the same linked Christmas households (23 – 27 December only) and must not join any other group or mingle with any person from another group. NB non-household groups of 6 are not permitted.

Please do not travel to S. Paul's Church at this time if you live in Local Restriction Tier 3: Very High Alert.

In everything, we seek to ensure that the re-opening of the church is COVID-19 secure, and safe for the Rector, volunteers, congregation, visitors and all members of the community, following all the necessary guidance as it is updated by the Government and the Church of England. Please let me know via email if you would be willing and able to become a volunteer at SPD to help with the practical tasks in order to ensure that we remain open on Sundays and in due course return to daily opening in the future. COVID-19 SECURE SUNDAY PARISH MASS Your full co-operation is kindly requested.

1. There will be 40 spaces per Sunday, (including the Rector & volunteers), depending on social distancing. Each space will be clearly marked in the pews.

2. You must book one or more of these spaces for yourself, and your household online on our Eventbrite page, or, by telephone. This also applies to all Sunday volunteers.

3. You must have no symptoms of Covid-19, and be otherwise in good health in order to attend the church.

4. Entrance to the church will be via the main carriage gates at the Crossfield Street / Deptford High Street entrance to the churchyard. The churchyard gates mark the beginning of our COVID-19 Secure Zone,

6. Family/Household groups must arrive together. Children will only be admitted with their parents/carers.

7. On arrival your name will be ticked off the list of attendees, or, if we do not have your details we will need to take them down. This is for the purpose of Track and Trace, in the event of someone who attends subsequently informing us that they have tested positive for covid-19. Your details will be kept securely for 21 days and then destroyed. You may also use the QR Code for the SERCO (aka NHS) Covid App.

8. Prams, buggies & bicycles should be left in the crypt. Please ring the buzzer on the south side (right hand side), for entry. The Crypt will be secure during Mass.

9. A face mask/covering must be worn in church at all times.

10. On arrival at the church doors, you will be asked to sanitise your hands using the hand sanitiser provided.

11. Collect your Mass sheets from the table by the font. Please take a marked copy if you would like to be a reader or intercessor. Your Mass sheet must not be shared, and must be taken away with you at the conclusion of the Mass.

12. You will be seated in one of the marked spaces in the pews. Once seated you must remain in that place during the Mass. Please remain in your place, do not engage others in conversation, and do not move around. The only exception being when you are invited to receive Holy Communion or a blessing. These spaces are 2m apart from one another. Households may sit together. Social distancing must be maintained at all times, whenever possible.

13. Parents are asked to keep a particular eye on their children and to keep them physically near at all times. There must be no playing, running, or shouting in church. The children and their carers area is suspended at this time.

14. No one, apart from Fr Paul should access the Sacristy.

15. PARISH MASS will begin promptly at 10.30am. It will be a said Mass, at the High Altar, which will last about an hour. Fr Paul will follow all the COVID-19 Secure Guidelines as set down by the Church of England. Incense will be burned in the sanctuary, & a volunteer will ring the Sanctus Bells. Holy water will not be used. There will be no servers, processions, or congregational singing. Readers will read from their Sunday Mass Sheet at the lectern. Intercessions will be prayed in situ. The Peace will be given by bowing to one another. Holy Communion will be in one kind only, & Fr Paul will follow the strict guidelines to ensure that the Blessed Sacrament is distributed safely into your hands. Blessings will be given without touching. You will be invited to form a socially distanced line, at 2m distance, (note the chalk signs in the central aisle), when you go to receive Holy Communion or a blessing.

16. At the conclusion of Mass, you will be asked to leave in an orderly, and socially distanced manner. You are also asked to leave the churchyard as soon as possible, and not to socialise or break social distancing rules, and sadly there will be no refreshments at this time. Fr Paul will not be able to greet you on the door at this time. In Tier 2 you must not join any other group or mingle with any person from another group.

17. Weekly Collection. As you depart, please place your weekly financial gift in the baskets provided. We also have the facility for you to give via your credit card. You can also give online via our new Just Giving page, or directly from your Bank Account. Details are available via the website.

18. Our Toilets in the crypt will be available on arrival and on departure, and for emergencies only. You may wash your hands before & after Mass. Please use the paper towels provided in the new dispensers, and not the hand driers.

19. All policies & procedures will be kept under constant review by the Rector & PCC.

20. The full Risk Assessment by the Parochial Church Council is available on request.

21. The final decision on the risk of attending rests with the individual.

22. Everything begins and ends at the altar. In all these things, the priest and people of SPD ask for God’s mercy, and seek to offer their sacrifice of worship and service to the praise and glory of Almighty God. Amen.
