Somatic dance is a form of movement that focuses on the internal, felt experience of the body, prioritising mind-body connection over external form or technique. It is intended to help individuals connect with their emotions, release tension and increase self awareness.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a meditative experience where participants are 'bathed' in sound waves. I use Himalayan singing bowls, a gong, crystal bowls & percussion to create different frequencies, with the intention for you to be relaxed and allow your brain let go.

What should I bring with me?

For the dance, wear comfortable clothing - and no shoes is best! Bring some water too. For the sound bath, the same clothing is fine, plus a yoga mat and pillow/blanket - anything to keep you comfortable and warm.

Is there parking?

Accepted Answer

Yes, plenty. The arts centre has its own car park, and it is easy to find, on the outskirts of town (on the way to Truro). The hall is on the ground floor, and there is disabled access.

Is a sound bath suitable for anyone?

Accepted Answer

Sound therapy is not recommended for those in the first trimester of pregnancy, those with metal implants in the body, those with severe mental health conditions and those who have sound induced epilepsy. If you wear a hearing aid, it is recommended to switch it off during in the session.
