Join award winning writer and coastal explorer Karen Lloyd for a walk & talk between the tides charting the elements of Morecambe bay through history, stories, analogue and digital data.
Meet at 2.00pm at the main car-park in Overton village. After the walk (5.00pm ca.) we will head to the Storey, Lancaster, for soup & sandwiches and a spot of 'mapping’ with the data collected during the walk. More information about this on the day. At 6.30pm, Karen will give a talk in conversation with Chris Donaldson, Lecturer in Regional History at Lancaster University, expert in the history of cross-bay travel technology and working on geospatial innovation research. Mulled wine & homemade mince-pies will be served till the end of the event (9.00pm ca.). More information on Edgebits.
Walk + Data Workshop
2.00pm - All meet at Overton Car park - lifts can be arranged
2.15pm - Start of the walk, an outline will be provided on the day
5.00pm - Soup, sandwiches, and data mapping at the Storey
6.30pm - Seminar by Karen in conversation with Chris
9.00pm - Event ends
- leisurely walk with stops at key natural and built landmarks;
- bring comfortable shoes;
- bring waterproof wear and dry change, in case it’s wet;
- bring warm clothing, in case it’s cold;
- bring some water and snacks

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Please specify if you need to share a lift to Overton Village at the time of registration; alternatevily, you can park your car at Overton Village main car park at the start of the walk.
All the activities event sound great, but I can only join you for some, can I do that?
Of course! You have three options: (1) the walk in the afternoon and the talk in the evening; (2) only the walk in the afternoon; (3) only the talk in the evening. Please specify when you register.
