Suneel Bakhshi - Leadership and Building a Performance Culture

We are delighted to announce that Suneel Bakhshi, President & CEO of Mizuho International plc, will be joining us for a webinar on 16th Dec at 1600 hours GMT to discuss 'leadership and building a performance culture'.

Suneel’s approach is based on successfully integrating: his understanding of Japanese management styles observed over five years of working in Japan; his lifelong study of Indian philosophy; and his experience of leading diverse teams around the world in several cultures on every continent. This combination of study and experience has compounded Suneel’s conviction in how to best cultivate potential and grow leaders of the future. Suneel will explain how he has embarked on building a performance culture based upon the pillars of inspiring trust, valuing and encouraging diversity of thought and driving forward a winning spirit. These pillars are core to the behaviours and values that he expects from his leadership team and he will discuss what they mean to him and how he has applied them at Mizuho International and during his career.

Suneel Bakhshi became President & CEO of Mizuho International plc in January 2019. He joined from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), where he served as CEO of LCH Group, the global clearing house majority owned by LSEG, for four years until October 2017. He retains strong links with LSEG where he continues to serve as honorary Chairman of LSEG’s International Advisory Groups including the Japan Advisory Group for which he is the founding Chair.

Prior to the position at LCH, Suneel was President & CEO, Citigroup Global Markets, Japan. Suneel spent more than 30 years at Citigroup, working in multiple asset classes across Trading, Banking and Risk Management and was a member of Citi’s Management Committee. During his career he has lived and worked in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Suneel has been a Governor of the Royal Ballet School in London from 2014 until 2019, and earlier, from 2011 until 2012. He is a keen student of Indian philosophy.

Suneel holds an MBA in Finance from Queens University in Canada, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Delhi, India.
