SUP & kayak trips in Wakefield - peer paddle
Join us for SUP and kayak trips in Wakefield! Everyone is invited to participate in our bi-weekly paddling adventures on the local canals and slow-moving rivers in the Wakefield District. You can find the schedule and planned routes listed below.
These outings are peer paddles, so please read the details below for more information. While registration isn't required, you can secure a free ticket to receive updates in case of cancellations, such as due to weather conditions. Additional information will also be posted on our Facebook page.
Please note that these peer paddles are not organised by the club and are not covered by our insurance. During an Independent Paddle, no one is responsible for the overall safety or well-being of the group, and there is no designated leader. While someone may help coordinate meeting times and locations, they hold no more authority than any other participant.
Each individual is responsible for their own equipment and safety, and everyone is expected to act responsibly. Participants should look out for themselves and each other while staying within their own limits.
We will be back before last light, but you can take a head torch if you have one.
Requirements:
- You must be confident in the water and the conditions you are paddling in.
- You should feel comfortable with the skills of others in the group.
- Conduct your own risk assessment based on water levels, weather, etc.
- Be realistic about your own abilities; if you're unsure, it's best to walk around a challenging section.
Who Can Join?
Adults who have the skills to paddle a SUP/kayak and is able to take care of themselves and be proactive in their own rescue, as well as help rescue others if required to do so.
