Super Eight roller skate workshop: Basic bowl skating
Come and learn the basics you need to flow around a skate bowl. We'll start by looking at the techniques for carving and pumping, and move into the bowl to practice building up speed and flow. Depending on time and readiness, we can also look at drop-ins, stalls, and even roll-ins.
Please note, the main event image does not show the bowl at Hoppa, but is intended to show someone carving a bowl. The bowl at Hoppa is square and low to the ground, about 3 foot high, which makes it a manageable place to work on technique. You can see the bowl we'll be at in the second image.
To join this session, you'll need to be able to skate forward on flat ground, change direction, control your speed and stop. It will help if you have some experience on transition (ramps) but that's not necessary, we will start by climbing into the bowl and carving slowly.
Roller skating on ramps involves risk of injury, and participants participate at their own risk. Essential padding: helmets and knee pads (may be able to loan.) Optional extra padding: wrist guards, bum pads. Age 18+
