Super-Recognisers: Exceptional at Face Recognition – Exceptional at Crime F...
Thu 16 March 2017, 18:00 – 20:00 GMT
Police Museum Special Event:
The ability to recognise faces ranges from those who cannot even recognise close relatives, to super-recognisers, who ‘never forget a face’. Following the London Riots of 2011, some super-recogniser police officers identified large numbers of suspects from CCTV images vastly outperforming computerised face recognition systems. Dr Josh P Davis, Reader in Applied Psychology at the University of Greenwich, researches forensic facial recognition. His super-recognisers test has been applied to 2 million members of the public, and is being used by police forces in the UK and around the world to help combat crime. This talk will share his recent discoveries.
