About this event

Spend a special family day at the Science Oxford Centre and meet researchers and scientists with IF Oxford. Experiment in the Exploration Zone, make a splash at the Water Lab and explore woodland nature trails. See Dr Sarah Bearchell’s ‘Amazing Air’ show, Richard Robinson’s ‘66 Impossible Things’, and try hands-on activities from materials testing to mini rolling robots with UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA).

Amazing Air, with Dr Sarah Bearchell: You can't see, hear, smell, taste or touch the air...so how do we know it's really there?! This multi-sensory, participatory show includes experiments to prove air really is there!

66 Impossible Things, with Richard Robinson: Join Richard Robinson for fun demos, quirky science, clever jokes and handy household tips with a twist!

Materials Testing and Sphero with UKAEA: Control mini robots in races and explore the properties of everyday and exotic materials used to generate star power.

Suitable for ages 3+ (all ages welcome). Under 3s free: please select your free under 3s ticket/s from the 'Add Ons' option; a full price Single Ticket is required to complete your order.

Pre-booking essential. All visitors to the Centre require a ticket.

What is included in your ticket:

  • Three-hour timeslot in the Exploration Zone including additional activities with IF Oxford
  • Access to the woodland and outdoor areas 10am–1pm or 2pm - 5pm(last entry 4.30pm).
  • Access to the outdoor Water Lab during your timeslot (bring a change of clothes)

Please note: The centre is closed between 1pm and 2pm. Visitors will have access to the site only for your 3-hour booked timeslot.

Emira's Kitchen café at the Science Oxford Centre is open from 10am-1pm or 2-4pm. Families are also welcome to bring food and refreshments to eat at our lunch tables.

Additional Support

If you're a visitor with a disability and you need a carer, personal assistant, or essential companion, free carer tickets are available to book via the 'Add On's option to help you with access during the visit.

You may be asked to provide ID when you arrive for the list of these ID documents and how to book your ticket see our accessibility information.
