About this event
The course is suitable for those stepping into a supervisory role for the first time or for other supervisors or managers who want to brush up on their supervisory and management skills.
The course will satisfy the generic supervision requirements in the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) Standard Contract and covers the key supervision and management skills needed to ensure compliance with the LAA Contract.
The course will also provide practical advice for putting in place effective outcome-focused supervision arrangements to meet your professional requirements in the SRA Standards and Regulations and meet the requirements for quality standards, including the Specialist Quality Mark and Lexcel.

Matt Howgate, Consultant, DG Legal
Matt is a non-practising solicitor and was formerly Senior Legal Adviser and Head of Continuous Improvement at the Legal Services Commission. He has considerable experience in regulatory issues and advising on complex issues of compliance and ethics. He is also an expert in data protection, GDPR and on the civil legal aid scheme.
Why You Should Attend?
This course is aimed at all practitioners but particularly those operating a LAA contract or needing to meet the LAA's supervisory standards.
To qualify as a LAA supervisor, there are a number of elements of the Supervision Standard which you need to meet. The first element is the Generic Supervision Standard. Where you cannot demonstrate that they have supervised another person for at least a year in the previous 5 year period (see the LAA Standard Contract Specification), you need to attend a course lasting at least 7 hours and which covers a series of topics. Our supervision & management course is designed to cover all of the above areas. The course is therefore particularly relevant for those either new to supervision or who cannot otherwise meet the Generic standard.
The content of the course is also relevant to all managers, principals and lawyers wishing to improve or brush up their supervisory and management skills.
Delegate Fee
The delegate fee is £255 Plus VAT (£306.00 inclusive).
A discount may be available for DG Legal retainer clients. A 50% discount is applicable to one delegate from each retainer client firm (please confirm with us that you are eligible for this rate). Other delegates from the same firm are required to pay the full delegate rate. If you are not eligible or of the discount has already been used by the firm, you will be charged the full delegate rate.
