What you will learn:

The practice of supervision is vital for the life of our safe and enriched clinical practice, yet it is a subject that is notoriously difficult to speak about. The aim of this course is to allow experienced practitioners to think not only about their own practice but how to hold others in their practice.

We will look at:

· How to create a supervisory relationship – the nuts and bolts that create a frame and the scene for therapy.

· What makes supervision “good” and what makes it “bad”.

· What are some of the techniques we can use no matter what our original model of therapy. This will comprise some of Shohet and Hawkins work.

· Parallel to the idea of creative technique is the developmental model. This will be explored for ourselves as supervisees and as supervisors. (Stoltenberg and Delworth)

This learning experience will incorporate the developmental nature of supervision. That is, how we move from being trainees through to independent and advanced practitioners. As a supervisor you are a vital part of the development and individuation of a therapist practitioner.

The art of individual and group work will be touched upon.

To feel able, grounded, and orientated is essential in the provision of creative supervision. To have a bifocal view at the heart of your supervision work is the creative endeavour.
