🌟 Introduction to Support & Supervision (Online – 2 Part Course)
📅 14th & 21st October
🕤 1-4pm both days
Please note: Your booking will only be accepted once you provide all required details.
About this course
Support and supervision is a cornerstone of good practice in youth and community work — it helps staff and volunteers feel valued, reflect on their experiences, and grow in confidence.
This practical, introductory course is designed for those new to the role of supervisor or those who want to refresh their knowledge and check their practice. While the focus is on planned supervision sessions, the concepts explored will also strengthen your informal approaches to support and supervision.
What you’ll explore
Across two interactive half-day sessions, you will:
- Understand the functions, stakeholders, and focus of effective supervision
- Learn how to negotiate a supervision agreement and clarify boundaries
- Develop skills to help people reflect on their work and learn from their experiences
- Identify steps to strengthen your role and confidence as a supervisor
Between sessions, participants will be asked to carry out a Support & Supervision session with a member of staff and come prepared to reflect and share learning in Session 2.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, you will:
* Understand the importance of support & supervision
* Know the fundamentals of delivering effective supervision
* Feel more confident to supervise staff and volunteers in your organisation

Youth worker training is in high demand – please help us support youth workers to access the training and development they deserve with these simple steps:
- Tell us if you cannot attend more than 24hrs in advance. This allows us to free up the space for another youth worker (many sessions are oversubscribed) and means you will avoid being charged the £25 fee for late-notice cancellation or non-attendance.
- Check you can join with camera and microphone. Our online training is engaging, interactive and discussion-based – not a webinar format. Our members regularly tell us this is better learning and we are confident you will gain more.
- Eventbrite sends you all your information by email. You will receive your ticket at booking and be sent a reminder – with any login details if online – approximately 24hrs in advance. If there are materials and handouts, your facilitator will send these too.
Thank you for using our training and helping us to continue supporting the needs of our members and community-based youth work.
