Dopamine Dolls is a community and support serivce that has been created out of necessity, due to the lack of support and resources for adult women and non-binary/gender fluid people living with ADHD in the Scottish Highlands.

We appreciate that there are many barriers to services and gaining a diagnosis may not always be possible, or desirable for some. Our group is, therefore, for any woman or non-binary/gender fluid person, who has an ADHD diagnosis or who experiences traits that they feel have a significant impact on their life.

If you are feeling a little unsure about comming along, please get in touch with us! You can bring someone along if you need a little support, just make sure to book a ticket for them too!

If you can no longer make it to our events, please ensure you cancel your ticket, as we have a limited number of spaces and someone else may be able to come along, if you are not able to.

Please do not sweat it if you are running late - we totally get it! We don't mind if you are 5 minutes, or even 30 minutes late! We know how difficult time management can be.

Venue details can be found below.

We have some ground rules in place to help keep everyone safe, you should be able to see them below. Copies will also be provided at the event. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with these rules before attending any of our events.

Dopamine Dolls is not a mental health service and we do not provide support for people in a crisis or those needing urgent metal health support. If you feel unsafe or unwell, we encourage you to seek support from your GP or local emergency service for crisis support.

Due to the nature and subject matter of our discussions, those attending our support groups must be 18 or over.

We are accepting of all disabilities, visible and invisible. If you require any adaptations, please get in touch.

Why are we now charging for support events?

This year brings some necessary changes to our service delivery. Most notably, we’ve taken the difficult decision to start charging a small fee for our support services. From March 2025 the cost to attend a Dopamine Dolls support session (e.g. Peer Support Group and Coffee Catch Up) will be £2.50 per session.

This will help us cover the costs of hiring a venue, providing refreshments, and supplying materials for the activities we often do, for example, arts and crafts, and games at Christmas. This will also allow us to fund some of the other expenses associated with running a charity (such as website, newsletter, administration, etc.) which some of our volunteers have previously paid for using their own money.

We also believe that introducing a small charge for our sessions will help to address an issue we’ve begun having with attendance. We’re starting to see an increasing number of people booking onto one of our sessions and then not showing up.

We get it - plans change, things slip our minds, fatigue sets in after a long day. And we know it can be daunting to go along to a new group for the first time. The occasional ‘no show’ isn’t a problem.

But we’ve had sessions where over 10 people were booked to attend, and only one or two showed up. We do not feel this is fair on volunteers who give up their time to prepare for and run sessions. And it isn’t fair on those of you who come along expecting a group session with other ADHDers.

We understand this is a shift, but as a volunteer-run service it’s crucial we ensure our time and resources are put to the best use. We hope you can understand why we’ve taken this decision. And we hope you’re still able to come along to our sessions and benefit from our services.
