Support with having challenging conversations

This event is part of Free We Grow's Giftival!

This short introductory session aims to empower us to speak the truth that is in our hearts with confidence. We will practice showing up with respect and compassion, not shying away from speaking and hearing about the challenging subjects that matter to us.

The workshop will provide opportunity for shared reality and acknowledgment of the emotional impact of personal as well as global challenges.

We will get to know and practice using tools for looking after ourselves and each other, using Non Violent Communication, the essence of which is human connection.

We will:

Examine the difference between observation and interpretation.

Practice how to de-escalate conversations.

Learn about universal human needs, and practice listening for them (We are all trying to meet the same life-serving needs such as safety, progress and belonging.)

To address these pressing issues we will discover ways to be with our own feelings and those of others.

This session will include sharing of key concepts plus practice in small groups with time for reflection and questions.

"I’m Lottie, a home educating mum, an artist and training to be a non violent communication trainer. With a team of volunteers we host empathy for home educators and people in SDE on Monday evenings. I love drumming and sword fighting. "
