What should I expect?

Whether you’ve been to one of our face to face meets ups before or whether you’re a complete newbie, everyone is welcome! We're an informal and friendly bunch (promise) and our online meet ups are a safe space to get to know other Supporter Groups who share the same passion.

This month, we are keen to discuss fundraising and awareness plans the Spring/Summer 2021 and onwards. We know that lots of you are keen to see in person events re-commence so we want to use this time to share ideas, tips and learn from each other how you plan your events.

For some, you may not feel confident in encouraging people to join in an event for your fund quite yet, so we want to talk about that too and ways that you can get people involved in a way that's comfortable to you and in line with restrictions.

Where are we meeting?

As face to face meet ups are no longer possible due to the current circumstances and we don’t know when we’ll be able to hold these again, we’ll be meeting online using Zoom a video meeting platform, don’t worry if you’ve never used Zoom before, we’ll send you full, easy to follow instructions to get you started and it’s completely free!

Please don’t worry about…Not wanting to be on video, you can connect using just audio so no one can see you but you can still take part.

You’ve never used Zoom before – we’ll send you all the instructions you need and if you get stuck we’ll be on hand to help, we can even do a test Zoom chat before the event if you would find it helpful!

“I won’t be very good at…” – This is a relaxed space of supportive peers. Everyone at the session has a shared passion of supporting The Brain Tumour Charity because they have been personally affected in some way.

Not making friends/anxiety – we guarantee you will. Everyone is in a similar boat and understands your situation so you’re sure to make friends. Plus, our friendly team are there to help too.

I’m not very confident in new situations – don’t worry, you can sit back and watch or listen, if you would prefer or dip in and out depending on what feels right for you.

Please note: All attendees must be aged 16 and above.

If you have any questions, or would like to know more please contact the community fundraising team on supportergroups@thebraintumourcharity.org

The Brain Tumour Charity is a UK based charity. We welcome those outside of the UK joining our online meet ups, however, it is important to note unfortunately we do not have the facilities to translate conversations for any non-English speakers.
