It’s been just over two years since we launched the Supporting a Mentally Healthy Workplace: National Learning Network for Employers — a shared space where employers across Scotland can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another about promoting and supporting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Since then, our quarterly network meetings have explored a wide range of important topics, including:

Supporting young people’s mental health in the workplace
Suicide prevention, and the impact of mental health and financial worries
Coping with bereavement
Men’s mental health

Across all sessions, our guest speakers — including employers and individuals with lived experience — have reinforced a key message: practical, everyday actions such as making reasonable adjustments and fostering peer support are often the most impactful when it comes to supporting employee wellbeing.

Our next meeting, taking place on 12 June 2025 from 10:00 – 11:30 on MS Teams, will therefore have a focus on Supporting a Mentally Healthy Workplace: Practical Actions Employers Can Take.

Members will hear directly from a diverse group of speakers who will share practical actions that have made a tangible difference in their organisations. Our speakers include:

Heather Connolly – Principal Health Psychologist – NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Brenda Sharp – Chief Operating Officer at Cohesion Medical Ltd.

Gary Gilfillan & Heather Richmond – Lived experience panel volunteers with See Me

We’ll also present findings from our recent member survey, which looks at how the network and its digital platform have helped drive improvements in workplace mental health — and how we can continue to build on that progress to better support employers across Scotland.
