A course designed for professionals working in schools, care services or other settings where they are supporting Autistic Individuals

BIS-net has been delvering specific training packages to several schools and settings int he local area for a number of years now. However, many settings cannot always free up large numbers to attend a training day and so this course has been designed to allow services to send staff who need specific development in this area, or who may be able to cascade and support others in the setting.

Aims of the course:

* To gain skills in understanding Autism as a developmental disorder that interubts typical pathyways of social and emotional development.

* Learn about the areas fo development that can be impacted by Autism, how to assess where an individual might be developmentally and the behaviours this may lead to.

* Learn about a range of pro-active support strategies and environmental changes that may be supportive, as well as how to individulaise them to meet the individuals specfic developmental needs.

* To gain insight into particular programmes such as RDI and the SCERTS model, that look to re-visit developmental delays in social and emotional areas. With practice time on how to establsih them in day to day interations.
