For parents/carers living in Bristol, North Somerset, South Glos and BaNES

A 6-week course and discussion group designed to help you understand and support the autistic girl in your care. No diagnosis is required to join this group. For parents and carers of girls and those who identify as girls.

Each week will begin with a presentation from facilitators on key topics. The rest of the session is an opportunity to get to know each other, ask questions and share experiences. The group will give you in depth information about the specific issues faced by autistic girls and how you can support your daughter in living a happy, confident life, including:

Coming to terms with puberty
Managing relationships
Staying safe
Help with masking
Emotional regulation
Hygiene and appearance
Managing conflicts

After each session, attendees will get an email with links and resources to do with that week's topics.

The group will meet via Zoom on Friday mornings starting 5th January 2024 from 10 - 12pm:

5th January - Introduction
12th January - Puberty, Hygiene & Appearance
19th Janurary - Mental Health
26th January - Managing Conflict
2nd February - Safety & Security
9th February - Emotional Regulation

Additional 1-1 session - as part of the group you are also able to have an additional 1-1 session to look at your own cicumstances and help direct you to relevant support.

Amy Phipps

Amy is mum to an autistic child and has worked in the field of autism for 15 years. A freelance trainer, delivering National Autistic Society's training and Teenage Life with Bristol Autism Team.
