Overview

Webinar | 1.5 hours | Intermediate training

When a sibling is dying or has died, the focus and attention is often on the parents and carers. This webinar will explore sibling bereavement and the importance of supporting young people whose brother, sister or twin is dying or has died. Co-hosted with Sibling Support.

Who is this training for?

This training is suitable for individuals whose work brings them into contact with grieving children and young people, for example: health and social care staff, care home staff, faith leaders, emergency service personnel, and charities.

We recommend that families attend our webinar: Supporting a bereaved child - for parents, families and carers.

What will I learn?

During this training, you will:

  • Gain understanding of the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that accompany preparing for and experiencing the death of a sibling.
  • Explore the experiences of grieving siblings and develop a deeper understanding of the challenges they may face.
  • Develop knowledge of practical strategies, and gain greater confidence in, supporting bereaved siblings.
  • Develop an awareness of the challenges of the work and the importance of looking after yourself.
  • Receive information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations, and resources available.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the webinar using the Q&A function.

Before booking on any training, please read our training terms and conditions. We encourage prospective participants to consider their own experience of loss and how it might affect them during training. Our training may not be suited to someone who has experienced a recent bereavement.
