Description

About the Course

Even the most experienced staff can feel de-skilled in situations of bereavement; however the impact of offering the right help and support is significant. In this introductory workshop you will explore your own feelings about loss and bereavement and learn about the ways in which bereavement affects people. You will be encouraged to reflect on how your organisation deals with people who have been bereaved and learn how you can help the people you come into contact with.

What will I learn

  • What bereavement is
  • What grief is
  • Grief theories
  • When does grief become complicated?
  • Managing difficult conversations with staff regarding bereavement and grief
  • Knowing when and who to refer on to

Who is it for?

Staff in a commercial rather than a Health/Care setting who require from time to time the skills and strategies to support adults who have been bereaved. This could include Line Managers, Directors and HR personnel. We hope that you will finish the training feeling more confident about how to support people in the workplace; will be in a position to review your organisations support strategies and have the knowledge to signpost people to other specialist services.

What will the course look like?

This training, which is practioner-led includes interactive group discussions, helpful scenarios and case studies.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
