About this event

Family & Education • Education

In Aberdeen City, just over 24% of all learners in the BGE stage are recorded as having English as an Additional Language. This is significantly above the national average. You will now, or in the future, be supporting learners with EAL.

This series of 4 linked professional learning inputs is aimed at staff directly supporting EAL learners. It will support the development of your pedagogy in relation to English language learning and will provide you with practical tools and tips to help improve outcomes for EAL learners in your class.

In order to get the most out of the inputs, you will be required to attend all 4 sessions. Research has demonstrated that ongoing engagement as part of a community of professionals can help to transform practice.

Session Summaries:

  • 1) English as an Additional Language - Overview
  • 2) Listening and Talking
  • 2) Reading
  • 3) Writing
